Terms of service

1. Who we are

Conspecto is operated by Egor Mitin, at Bastiengasse 4, 1180 Wien, Österreich. Contact: support@conspecto.org. Full provider details are in our Imprint.

2. What Conspecto does

Conspecto is a study service for writing and importing notes, generating study material with AI, and scheduling review through spaced repetition. AI features can turn notes, PDFs, videos, prompts, and answers into questions, explanations, evaluations, and other study material.

Some AI actions use in-service usage credits called books. Books are a usage meter, not money or stored value. They cannot be transferred, traded, or redeemed for cash.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 16 to create an account. Keep your login details secure, use an email address you control, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity under your account unless that activity was not caused by you.

4. Fair use

Please do not use Conspecto to:

  • break the law, infringe another person’s rights, or upload content you cannot use;
  • create or distribute illegal, abusive, exploitative, or deliberately harmful material;
  • upload malware, disrupt the service, evade limits, or probe accounts and systems;
  • scrape, resell, reverse engineer, or automate access beyond our documented interfaces;
  • extract system prompts, model credentials, or other protected service information;
  • submit another person’s sensitive data without a lawful reason.

We may limit or suspend access where reasonably necessary to stop abuse, protect users or the service, or comply with law. Where practical, we will explain the reason and give you a chance to correct the problem.

5. Your notes stay yours

You retain ownership of the notes, files, answers, and other content you add. You give us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, copy, display, format, and process that content only as needed to run the service. When you use an AI feature, that licence includes sending the relevant content to the AI service providers described in our Privacy policy.

The licence ends when the content is deleted, except where a short-lived backup, security record, or legal retention duty still applies. You remain responsible for having the rights needed to upload and use your content.

6. AI is a study aid

AI output may be incomplete, inaccurate, or similar to output given to someone else. Check important material yourself. Conspecto does not promise exam results and is not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or other expert advice.

7. Plans, renewal, and payment

Paid plans are subscriptions processed through Stripe. Before you subscribe, we show the plan, billing interval, total price and currency, included books, renewal terms, and any applicable taxes. The subscription begins when payment is confirmed and renews for the same interval until cancelled. Stripe handles card details; Conspecto receives billing and subscription records needed to run your plan.

You can cancel through billing settings or the Stripe customer portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal and normally takes effect at the end of the paid billing period, so access continues until then. Cancelling a subscription is separate from exercising a statutory withdrawal right. See our Refunds and cancellation policy.

8. Books and top-ups

Your plan may include a recurring book allowance, and eligible plans may buy one-time top-ups. The current allowance, rollover or expiry rule, charge for each action, and top-up price are shown before the relevant choice. Books are deducted when a paid AI action is performed; a failed action that cannot deliver usable output should be re-credited.

Promotional or earned books may have stated limits and may be reversed if obtained through abuse. Purchased top-up books are not confiscated merely because a subscription ends. Their refund treatment, including the stance on unused top-ups, is set out in the Refunds and cancellation policy.

9. Changes and availability

Conspecto is evolving, so features and reasonable usage limits may change. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, but mandatory rights concerning digital services remain unaffected. We will give reasonable advance notice of a material change that disadvantages existing subscribers. A price change will not be retroactive; where it affects renewal, we will tell you before renewal and you may cancel before it takes effect.

10. Ending an account

You may stop using Conspecto and request account deletion. We may terminate an account for a serious or repeated breach, a security threat, or a legal requirement. Where reasonable, we will give notice and an opportunity to export content before termination. Billing records may still be retained where law requires it.

11. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence; injury to life, body, or health; a guarantee we expressly gave; mandatory product-liability rules; or any liability that law does not allow us to limit.

For slight negligence, we are liable for breach of an essential contractual duty only, and then only for the loss that was typical and reasonably foreseeable when the contract was made. This does not limit mandatory consumer remedies, including remedies for a digital service that does not conform with the contract.

12. Law and disputes

Austrian law applies, without depriving consumers of mandatory protections available in their country of residence. Consumers may bring claims in any court available to them under mandatory law. For disputes where an exclusive venue can validly be agreed, the venue is Wien, Österreich.

13. Updates to these terms

We may update these terms for legal, security, or product changes. We will explain material changes and give reasonable notice by email or in the service. Changes that require your agreement will not be imposed simply because you continued using Conspecto.
